Top Classic Albums of 2020

Don’t let this title mislead you: these are the best albums that I’ve reviewed or listened to this year.

This year has been full of tremendous changes and upheaval but music has been there to get me through.  Now I am a fan of classical music especially because it is timeless and so for this year the albums chosen have been based on some of my favorite artists and songs that I feel are relatable.

2001 - Dr. Dre

My fifth choice was 2001 by Dr. Dre which came out November 6th, 1999. The songs are musically well thought out. Even years later, with advancements in music technology, this still feels fresh and timeless. I know some people wouldn’t say that this is the best album that he created, but that’s not really my problem right now. All of his albums are good.

Life After Death - The Notorious B.I.G.

My fourth choice was Life After Death by The Notoriois B.I.G. This album came out March 25th, 1997. Notorious B.I.G is also on my list of favorite artists and so he will earn this position, especially since his songs are also very good if not lyrically but also musically. So I will take this time to say, rest in peace Biggie.

Encore / The Slim Shady LP - Eminem

My third choice was either Encore or The Slim Shady LP. The albums came out November 12th, 2004 and February 23rd, 1999. Eminem is one of my favorite rappers and so he has to be included somewhere within my list. In my opinion he could match up skillwise to 2Pac. Even though some would call it blasphemy, let’s remember that these are my opinions.

Nellyville - Nelly

My second choice was Nellyville by Nelly. Nellyville came out June 25th, 2002. It is slow and calm but has a very dancy vibe and is great to listen to if you just want a chance to let lose and forget about this year. Like, for real, I spent a lot of time out of this year because of this album, so thank you Nelly!

Greatest Hits - 2Pac

My first choice was Greatest Hits by 2Pac which came out on November 24th, 1998. This was a posthumous album of 2Pac of  25 songs and included 2 of my favorite songs (Changes and Dear Mama).  2Pac tops the list because I see him as one of the Goats of Rap, Lyrically and musically he is amazing plus his songs are timeless, he was very socially aware.

So now we wait for the next project that The RatedR will throw my way in 2021! Happy New Year everyone!
