Sail Out by Jhené Aiko
It's new-generation R&B, like Frank Ocean, Miguel and even Drake. It's not in a box-it's just us.
- Jhené Aiko, speaking on Sail Out
Who doesn't like music?
I have always heard the saying that "the eyes are the key to a person's soul", and I agree with that but have you ever thought about other ways that assist in truly understanding a person? One can learn about people through various ways such as looking at their likes and dislikes, at the clothes, colors they choose to wear or be surrounded by and most importantly,in my opinion, by listening to the type of music that they listen to. Music speaks many languages to many different people and yet it also commonly connects people to others by expressing experiences and feelings that people often feel yet find difficult to put into words. I was recommended the album Sail Out by Jhené Aiko.
Overall I love this album, every single song on this 7 track album but especially 3:16 AM. This album has a range of different beats and sounds that blend and move through the song, giving them each a different feel or character. Along with the chosen beats and songs Jhené Aiko adds lyrics that are powerful and easy to relate to.
Everybody's like, He's no item, Please don't like em, He don't wife em, He one nights em
- Jhené Aiko, "The Worst"
Jhené Aiko has a soft and melodic voice but she also has good control over her range, so you can feel the emotions coming through without them aggressively assaulting your senses which makes for an overall pleasurable listening experience. It is impressive that even though she is angry or annoyed her voice stays soft and melodic which in my opinion makes it hit even harder.
Overall this is a successful outing for Jhené Aiko, garnering 8 out of 10 stars. It's a positive experience, delving intot the depths of Aiko's emotions and soul. Coming out of it, it's only normal to feel as if you are personally connected to her and her life. Even though we aren't. It makes people feel different when they see their favorite artists live through what they lived through.
