Rest in Peace Juice WRLD
My heart is heavy.
I wish I wasn't writing this. No one planned for any of this.
On Sunday, December 8th 2019, Jarad Anthony Higgins, known professionally as Juice Wrld, died of a seizure - possibly linked to drug use - while coming home for his birthday.
There's a lot of mainstream news sites that will take their time to expose on his the music industry is failing young artists such as him, Lil Peep and Mac Miller, or how the world needs to look at Hip-Hop culture with a more critical eye. I won't stand in the way of that: everyone rationalizes things differently.
I need to point out the importance of mental health and drug use. From all of his lyrics, people knew that WRLD had some struggles. That's clear. But what do we do to help those that we see in pain? Most of us don't do anything that is concrete. A call on the phone isn't enough: trained professionals can help, but being there to support that person no matter what is the key. Show them love. Faith. Purpose.
Don't let them fall into drugs. That garbage is killing the youth. Forget the codeine. Forget the lean. All of that isn't worth your life. Your life is worth so much.
I pray that his family finds peace during this time. I pray that his fans show an outpouring of love towards Wrld's family. I pray that we get away from the drugs and come together.
Sincerely yours,
Ryan
